Afternoon Update 08-08-08

Sorry about taking so long to update today. Not a whole lot to report at this point. Here's what I have right now:

-Julie was told that she could be discharged today. However the insurance said that they would approve her to stay thru Sunday at this point. Great news, seeing that she can continue to recover and be close to Magdalena!!!

-Magdalena was put back on an IV to day. She is not digesting as much of her feedings as they would like to see and they do not want her to get dehydrated.

-Another concern is one of Magdalena's eyes. It has a glaze to it that the other does not. An eye doctor will look at it in the next day or so.

All for now! Lori will probably update with a little more detail tonight with some sweet pictures to look at!

  1. Thanks, Stephen. So good to know that God has placed wonderful doctors and nurses in the hospital to care for Julie and Magdalena, and a blessing too that she can stay until Sunday. Hope they'll get some rest and some good family time together.

I've been following your blog, but never commented before.
I just wanted you to know that I'm praising God with you. Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful daughter! I am so thankful that God is giving you time with her!
I'm also praying for her (and you all) many times a day. You are a wonderful witness to me of how God may work in ways we don't understand, yet he is always still present. Thanks for the updates.
    God bless,
    Becky

I am overwhelmed with gratitude as I consider how gracious and merciful our God is. Praying for y'all as a Sunday school class and a church for months now and seeing how God has heard so many of our prayers. Thank you for sharing your story with us as it has blessed me especially as we witness a God that truly cares and tabernacles with us as we humbly cling to Him by the gift of the Holy Spirit inside of us. What a testimony you and your family are to us. Praise be to God! In continued prayer,
Russ and Rachel, Nettie and Olivia

This morning Magdalena left this world to be with Jesus. There really isn't too much else I can say but to please pray for Julie and Noah. For now, they do not want any calls, emails or visits. I will you keep you updated on the arrangements.

Making the Decision to Not Make the Decision

I get the question, "Are you going to have any more kids?" asked often. Since finding out Magdalena's diagnosis it was always a tough question to answer. We had always envisioned ourselves with multiple children, but there was always the lingering thought of having to endure this difficult situation again. Although it is less than a one percent chance that we would have another child with T18, the percentage still exists. When pregnant, I said multiple times that I couldn't do this again and my mom constantly reminded me that it is not always that difficult. Being pregnant was physically uncomfortable, but I was referring to the constant emotional exhaustion. As Magdalena continued to do well, Noah and I weren't sure when to begin thinking about other children. Noah and I discussed that I would work really hard at losing my weight, but I was willing to be five pounds more than what I was originally. People poked fun at my not eating Magdalena's birthday cakes...
