135 Days

There are two zombies walking around our house. Due to the lack of sleep that Magdalena is providing Noah and me now ready to sleep again. It seems as though she is only crying as any normal baby would. The only difference is that when she gets fussy she pulls her tube out, which she has done twice in a row! Thankfully, she has been as sweet as she could be in that situation. She makes it clear that she doesn't like it, but her nurse has been able to get it down.

When we found out about Magdalena having Edward's Syndrome we decided to raise money for the March of Dimes in honor of her. With the help of so many people our team, Magdalena's Feet, raised over 3,000 dollars. The walk this year is May 2nd, and we are hoping to raise at least 5,000 dollars to help all babies and their mothers.

You can help by doing one of the following:

1. Join our Team - Walk with us on May 2nd in honor of Magdalena's life Go to http://www.marchforbabies.org/ and click join a team. Then, you type in our team's name, Magdalena's Feet. From then you type in information to help you.

2. Be a sponsor - You can do this by going online to http://www.marchforbabies.org/julieroberts
OR just click on the March for Babies sidebar

3. Helping us to find companies or organizations who would like to support our team If you have a Facebook page, please consider joining our group, Magdalena's Feet, to keep updated on the walk.

  1. Good luck with your fundraising! We walked last year, just the 4 of us, for the first time and raised $800. I'm thinking of putting together a team this year and REALLY working on it. Such a great cause!

  3. It's funny that she manages to keep finding her tube to pull out! Well, maybe not to you, but to me. :) Mallorie can only use one of her hands, but I will tell you, she is STRONG and accurate ... when we need to suction her (something she hates), she can grab the tip from our hands and turn away from it so you simply cannot do it by yourself anymore! Eventually, we learned that if we tell her, "Just a little saline" (before flushing her nose) or "just a little suction" (before attempting to suction), she would stop, brace herself, and allow us to do it. Maybe she can't talk yet, but she knows the scoop.

Too bad it wouldn't work with the tube, though, because it isn't "just a little tube" if it stays in. Poor Magdalena. Such a fighter, though. Don't you just love the warrior princesses?

This morning Magdalena left this world to be with Jesus. There really isn't too much else I can say but to please pray for Julie and Noah. For now, they do not want any calls, emails or visits. I will you keep you updated on the arrangements.

Making the Decision to Not Make the Decision

I get the question, "Are you going to have any more kids?" asked often. Since finding out Magdalena's diagnosis it was always a tough question to answer. We had always envisioned ourselves with multiple children, but there was always the lingering thought of having to endure this difficult situation again. Although it is less than a one percent chance that we would have another child with T18, the percentage still exists. When pregnant, I said multiple times that I couldn't do this again and my mom constantly reminded me that it is not always that difficult. Being pregnant was physically uncomfortable, but I was referring to the constant emotional exhaustion. As Magdalena continued to do well, Noah and I weren't sure when to begin thinking about other children. Noah and I discussed that I would work really hard at losing my weight, but I was willing to be five pounds more than what I was originally. People poked fun at my not eating Magdalena's birthday cakes
