Christmas Day 2008

So, normally I would not share this picture with anyone outside of the family, but so many of you love Magdalena that I could not withhold it from you. This is our family on Christmas morning. Magdalena woke up and spent some time with us in our bed, her favorite spot. We had a lovely conversation.

That face says "please stop taking pictures of me...haven't I already proven myself to be a miracle?". Those blue eyes just keep us drawn to her.

Santa came! Look at those presents! Magdalena was obviously the best child this past year!

Mimi and Papa go to all the houses on Christmas morning to watch their grandkids open their presents. Here Mimi is reading a book to Magdalena. It is one with bright colors and contains certain textures.

She has not let go of that balloon, yet! That must have been her favorite gift!
Our family at Mimi and Papa's house before celebrating Christmas with my family.

Mimi has a stocking for each grandchild at her house, but couldn't find the perfect one for Landon (born in April) and Magdalena this year. Emma wanted to be sure that she got one. This is a stocking that she made at school. Mimi worked to squeeze a present in there, which happened to be Magdalena's favorite, Mylacon drops.

  2. Love the picture of you all relaxing in bed. We also do that in our house. We now have 3 sons; luckily a king size bed. Those are some of the most memorable times. I'm so happy you had a great holiday with your precious little girl!

  8. HA! That picture that you normally wouldn't share? That's the best one I think I've ever seen of y'all -- including the professionals, which are gorgeous. But I love the pic of y'all just being y'all...

This morning Magdalena left this world to be with Jesus. There really isn't too much else I can say but to please pray for Julie and Noah. For now, they do not want any calls, emails or visits. I will you keep you updated on the arrangements.

Making the Decision to Not Make the Decision

I get the question, "Are you going to have any more kids?" asked often. Since finding out Magdalena's diagnosis it was always a tough question to answer. We had always envisioned ourselves with multiple children, but there was always the lingering thought of having to endure this difficult situation again. Although it is less than a one percent chance that we would have another child with T18, the percentage still exists. When pregnant, I said multiple times that I couldn't do this again and my mom constantly reminded me that it is not always that difficult. Being pregnant was physically uncomfortable, but I was referring to the constant emotional exhaustion. As Magdalena continued to do well, Noah and I weren't sure when to begin thinking about other children. Noah and I discussed that I would work really hard at losing my weight, but I was willing to be five pounds more than what I was originally. People poked fun at my not eating Magdalena's birthday cakes...
