Potty Training

Potty Training....need I say more?  We had finally decided to do it over the Thanksgiving break, but we started off the holidays out of town, so we decided to wait until the Christmas break.  We are gradually introducing the bathroom to Walt, and we are looking into a book that encourages the bathroom.  However, I don't think any of that will compare to the cool toilet Walt has!  It even makes the car sound!  He loves cars!  When, I have an update on how this goes, I will let you know.  As for now, we are scared and looking for a way to avoid it, but Walt is growing up.  We can tell that he is ready!

Can I just say how much I LOVE this picture of my little man!  He went Wal-mart shopping with me, and he was a real trooper the entire time we were there!  With fish in hand, he went through all of the isles with me with a smile on his face.  Even at the very end of the trip when we had to wait inside because it was pouring rain and we lacked an umbrella, he was patient.  With Walt's personality and age he is either one extreme or the other, and I was very thankful on this shopping trip that he was in the positive extreme.

  1. Precious! I will be praying for your potty training efforts. It's not the most fun thing in the world, but it is incredibly rewarding!

Magdalena Grace Roberts

This morning Magdalena left this world to be with Jesus. There really isn't too much else I can say but to please pray for Julie and Noah. For now, they do not want any calls, emails or visits. I will you keep you updated on the arrangements.

Making the Decision to Not Make the Decision

I get the question, "Are you going to have any more kids?" asked often. Since finding out Magdalena's diagnosis it was always a tough question to answer. We had always envisioned ourselves with multiple children, but there was always the lingering thought of having to endure this difficult situation again. Although it is less than a one percent chance that we would have another child with T18, the percentage still exists. When pregnant, I said multiple times that I couldn't do this again and my mom constantly reminded me that it is not always that difficult. Being pregnant was physically uncomfortable, but I was referring to the constant emotional exhaustion. As Magdalena continued to do well, Noah and I weren't sure when to begin thinking about other children. Noah and I discussed that I would work really hard at losing my weight, but I was willing to be five pounds more than what I was originally. People poked fun at my not eating Magdalena's birthday cakes...
