Baby Roberts' Health

Today the doctor had positive things to say about Baby Roberts. Although his examination is not a 100% certain, he did not see any marks that would raise concern about a chromosonal problem. All of the measurements put him at the 19-week mark, and I am officially 19 weeks and 1 day, so that is good news! He weighs 9 ounces!
Also, this gave Noah and me a great opportunity to tell the doctor about Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (http://www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org/) for more mothers to benefit from. And of course, we showed him our sweet pictures of Magdalena as most proud parents would to their doctor. Overall, the experience was great, for which I am so thankful. We are continuing to cheer Baby Roberts on!

    I woke up on Tuesday thinking "this is Julie and Noah's big day for their appointment" and then checking your blog a few times for the update. What power your story (and children!!) have on me, and I've never met you. I'll continue to follow what happens and wish you peace and health. Magdalena is every much a part of this as you believe.

Making the Decision to Not Make the Decision

I get the question, "Are you going to have any more kids?" asked often. Since finding out Magdalena's diagnosis it was always a tough question to answer. We had always envisioned ourselves with multiple children, but there was always the lingering thought of having to endure this difficult situation again. Although it is less than a one percent chance that we would have another child with T18, the percentage still exists. When pregnant, I said multiple times that I couldn't do this again and my mom constantly reminded me that it is not always that difficult. Being pregnant was physically uncomfortable, but I was referring to the constant emotional exhaustion. As Magdalena continued to do well, Noah and I weren't sure when to begin thinking about other children. Noah and I discussed that I would work really hard at losing my weight, but I was willing to be five pounds more than what I was originally. People poked fun at my not eating Magdalena's birthday cakes...
