May

The last month has been exhaustingly busy for our family. We have been able to celebrate another month with our active, beautiful daughter, and our team, Magdalena's Feet, raised over 2,900 dollars for March of Dimes.
Also, my family cheered me on as I was FINALLy able to graduate with my master's. I wasn't supposed to graduate this spring, but through God's hands much had been done in the last year to prepare me for it. This is truly a blessing because it will allow me to teach night classes at a local college so that for whatever time we have with Magdalena I don't have to worry about working. (Isn't my husband handsome?)

Also, my wonderful husband planned a wonderful Mother's Day for me, and he made me feel so special. Words cannot describe the emotions I felt that day, but I was so happy that Magdalena was able to celebrate with me this year.

  1. Hi, I'm Erin, Gavin's sister-in-law, and "met" Noah on his blog. Thank you for this blog, your faithfulness, honesty, and courage. When I was pregnant with my first, we were told there was a higher chance of Down Syndrome than there should have been. That threw me quite a big, so I can't imagine getting a Trisomy 18 diagnosis. I'm confident this little girl will be so loved, the time you do have with her will be amazingly precious, and God is going to use her for his glory. I'm sure this blog will especially be an encouragement to other parents dealing with a diagnosis like this. Erin Ortlund

Your heart, sincerity, and love for Jesus are quite inspiring.

You are right, Magdalena's life is precious, divinely appointed and purposed by God!

God is please that you are celebrating the life of his creation.

Thank you sooo much for letting us be a part of this journey.

I love you and am praying.

This morning Magdalena left this world to be with Jesus. There really isn't too much else I can say but to please pray for Julie and Noah. For now, they do not want any calls, emails or visits. I will you keep you updated on the arrangements.

Making the Decision to Not Make the Decision

I get the question, "Are you going to have any more kids?" asked often. Since finding out Magdalena's diagnosis it was always a tough question to answer. We had always envisioned ourselves with multiple children, but there was always the lingering thought of having to endure this difficult situation again. Although it is less than a one percent chance that we would have another child with T18, the percentage still exists. When pregnant, I said multiple times that I couldn't do this again and my mom constantly reminded me that it is not always that difficult. Being pregnant was physically uncomfortable, but I was referring to the constant emotional exhaustion. As Magdalena continued to do well, Noah and I weren't sure when to begin thinking about other children. Noah and I discussed that I would work really hard at losing my weight, but I was willing to be five pounds more than what I was originally. People poked fun at my not eating Magdalena's birthday cakes
